I finally finished my Convertible top installation today. It wasn't as difficult as I thought it was going to be and Al Knocks video helped alot.

Congrats!
If you wish to sell the video, I might go for it. If so, email w/ $.
Is that a vinyl top or is it canvas?....sure looks good! Had a new one put on (by pros) about 2 years ago...I still had to go in and adjust the dang blam thing....I believe in that saying "If you want it done right, the first time...always do it yourself" Thinking of installing the "canvas" type....

Dang nice job John. Looks awesome. I took mine out for a ride today with the top up and at the first stop a man on his cell phone came over to check out the top. I got the whole 20 questions. Good job.
Thanks for all the compliments.
To answer the questions:
MIKER - I estimate that I have about 10 man-hours in this project. I guess it took longer that usual because I didn't have any help (my wife helped a little) and that I only worked on it an hour or so at a time (2 kids, 6 and 3 years old.... need I say more?) and only had one full day on it a few Saturdays ago.
vetteguy75 - That is the stay-fast cloth top from Al Knock. It is top quality and very nice.
Gene - I'll always take an all expenses paid trip to Fla. It would be cheaper if you had someone down there do it for you because I do tend to drink a lot of beer and eat steaks while traveling.
Ditto, very nice! My Dad also did a canvas top on his '67 RS/SS and the results are amazing. No comparison in looks, feel and overall finish. Big difference in price, but he had it done professionally. He did my mom's '72 Vette back in the 80's only to have it crack from not doing it right. THis time he had someone do it. Installed it was $1,500, but after taking 5 years to do a frame off resto, it was worth it (to him!)
Looks great. What was you cost for parts, tools, etc.?
I purchased a '72 three weeks ago and want to replace the soft top. Places like Eckler's sell "Top Tension Cables" for my year. My question is, where are they installed. My old top does not seem to have them and I assume a previous owner removed them. I ordered their install DVD but it is on back order. I am trying to do my home work on the top replacement and value anyone's advice.
