The thing that concerns me is that I don't know how accurate Eagle's rating is. GM's rating was high, so the actual CR was closer to 9.75. If Eagle's rating is also high, then there are no worries. If Eagle's ratings are accurate, it will have a higher CR than from the factory.

10.2:1 CR is not too high. If you want to stay below 10:1CR you can either use a thicker head gasket or have the heads or pistons machined (not cost effective).

Not sure if this a good idea or a brainfart but anyways:
Bring the old piston to TDC and measure how far it's below the deck (or measure cc)
Do that again with the new pistons and compare to see how much it changed...

Would this work ??

I could do that with the old one, but I can't do it with the new one because I don't want to buy or install the new piston if I'm not sure if it will work.

Why not ? After determining the new CR you would choose the head gasket thickness accordingly. I cannot imagine that you suddenly end up at around 11:1 if they advertize 10.2:1. They may not be 100% accurate but not off by a whole point.....

We have so many engine gurus here on this forum, most of them know more than I about these engines
