Default 1977 Stock Clock Loses Time

Does anyone know if there is an adjustment inside the dash clock (a potentiometer or something) so that the clock doesn't lose about an hour a day? Thanks in advance.

If it will adjust you do that by running it forward 12 hrs if that is not enough go another 12 and so on.

If you find it, let everyone else know. I have yet to see a stock clock work correctly.

Just be thankful the second hand is moving. Mine is 30 years slow.

Mine gains about 1 minute a week. I don't know anyway to adjust it==the case looks sealed?

Mine has always kept excellent time & was working fine when removed.
The clock adjusts speed when it is set forward (faster) or backwards (slower). It may take several settings for it to be right. Only needed to be set for daylight saving time. When power is removed runs about 90 secs.

Ok you guys don't hate me but my clock works perfect. Never had any problems. I do remember reading somewhere that to adjust the speed of the clock you either adjust it forward 12 hours or backwards 12 hours. I think that it was in my owners manual.

My clock didn't work when I got it. I bought a rebuild kit with the quartz clock, but with the OEM movement. The same instructions as in the owners manual. The **** on the front of the clock with which you can set the time is also used to adjust the speed of the clock. When you turn the **** clockwise like setting the clock forward then the clock will speed up like about 10 to 30 seconds every hour...it doesn't matter how far you turn the ****...it's every time the **** starts to turn from any stationary position it speeds up the clock. The same if you turn the **** back...it will slow down the clock.

Thus, if you ever set your clock because it is running slow then you will turn the **** clockwise which will automatically adjust the speed of the clock. The only problem with this wonderful feature is that when the battery is disconnected then the clock will need to be set when you reconnect the battery...and when you adjust the clock then it will automatically screw it up. So...when setting a clock that was already running properly...you need to turn the **** past where the correct time is and then turn the **** back...this will speed up and slow down the clock by the same amount and hence keep an accurate clock accurate.

Mine had not been working since I got the car. I looked last night and the fuse for the Clock was missing so I figured easy fix. When I put in a new fuse it blows right away. Says it takes a 20AMP fuse and I even stuck in a 25 and it blows right away.

More likey a problem with the physical clock unit or an electrical problem with a short somewhere?

Wouldn't try any more oversize fuses, or you might be having a fire sale.

My car came with an old Panasonic Radio with the clock feature builtin. This is your best bet. I would rather take a beating than to work on the dash in my car.

I have found that the center gauge cluster is not that difficult to remove (79 L-82). I took my clock out, removed the hands and face, cleaned the clockworks with lighter fluid (oily but evaporates after 1-2 minutes) and then lubricated the pendulum wheel with some light machine oil from my electric razor. I reassembled the clock and taped a 9-V transistor radio battery to the terminals so it would run out of the car. The clock ran all night and kept great time before the 9-V battery gave up. It was an easy fix and saved lots of $$$$ too.
