Default valve cover question: smooth or dented?

Do any of you restoratoin guys know if the valve covers on the L-68 was crome or painted? Also do all the valve covers have the dent on the drivers side or is this only on the power steering cars?

I believe all solid lifter big-blocks have chrome valve covers in '69. My 435 does. Corner cut on the valve covers only on the power-brake 'Vettes. Mine is manual brakes, no cut corner.

I was thinking about this the other night, my '69 L36 390 has the original style chrome valve covers (the tonawanda sticker is there but faded) , with no dent on the driver's side, and is a power brake car. There aren't any clearance issues, so I'm not sure if mine is different or has been changed drastically. Maybe there's a difference between the solit lifter cars and my hydraulic lifter one.
