You'd expect a manufacturer sponsored article to show a gain. The roller trunions are great for longevity and the good ones use big trunions to spread the load. As for the roller tips, that seems to be pure BS. Several folks have buzzed engines up on Spintron machines and found that the roller tips don't roll, they scrub across the top of the valve like a stock rocker. Accuracy of ratio is probably the best benefit on a street engine, strength with the better ones is a huge benefit with big cams/race engines. Just my .02

It wasn't rollers rockers that did it ... look closely ... compare & contrast tests #5 & #6 roller tips to full roller. I suggest the VERY small increases are more test anomolies (noise) than real increases ... but if you want to believe it ... c&c #5 & #6 TQ @ 4.4K. Also, the change from plain stock stamped to roller tips at tests #2 & #3 ... that increased the RAR ... the comp roller tips are actually 1.52:1 ... a slight increase from 1.5:1 stock ... slightly increases lift (about 0.006") & duration (about half-degree) ... so slight increases in hp & tq.

Stamped and roller are not necessarily different. Most of the current rockers made for the OEM's are indeed stamped. However, they have a roller trunnion. The roller tip is BS, it actually increases the contact pressure between the valve tip and rocker compared to a standard crowned tip.

This subject comes up at least every other week it seems. Anyone arguing about 5 HP is wasting their breath. No one can even tell a difference of 5 HP. Most dynos probably aren't that repeatable, and on the street there are so many variables it's not worth talking about. The reason GM, and other OEM's, use roller trunnions and roller lifters is to decrease friction, and increase durability. The rockers are typically stamped steel to reduce mass and increase fatigue life.

I wish someone would start making them in the "roller trunion, conventional tip" style for the centerbolt heads.

Excellent info, thanks to all.

I will wait for an engine rebuild, if and when that is required to decide.

I will focus on installing true dual exhaust, and performing preventive maintenance to the diff, wheel bearings, tranny, and suspension.
