Default radiator fan

My car seemed to run hot yesterday in town. When I got home I opened the hood and spun the fan and it had some resistance but not a whole lot. I figured it should be fairly tight and not spin easy. How can you tell if it is bad. Who makes a good replacement?

It should not "spin!" You should be able to turn it, but the clutch should make it stiff. Sounds like the clutch is bad.

Clutch fan should be somewhat stiff and not free spin( if thats what it is doing). Dont also forget the basics and make sure your coolant level is full.

Get the car warmed up, stop and open the hood, watch the fan while you turn off the ignition. A "good" fan/clutch system should only make a couple of turns after the engine stops. If it spins more than that, it's bad and probably why the engine runs hot....it isn't turning with the engine.
