Don't let the name fool ya', they are in Texas.

http://www.phoenixtrans.com/

When I pull the trigger, I am probably going with one of their units. Greg Ducato was the guy I spoke with via e-mail and he was very helpful and answered all of my questions.

Page62 put a Bowtie transmission in his '79 back when he had it. I believe he still hangs around here but mostly in off topic. He can fill you in on his experience with a Bowtie tranny.

All reports they know their stuff. That said, there is a guy in Hollywood Fl will build you one for about $1000 with no core charge. If you want his info I'll hook you up. He is the guy I am going with.

I put in a Level 3 Bowtie 2004R this past winter. Great tranny and great bunch of people to work with. One note however, they are a stickler on the installation and you'll need to pay close attention to the instructions they provide since, as part of getting their warranty, you'll first have to have a chat with one of their tech people and answer certain installation questions. If you follow their written procedure you'll have no problems.

Your being in FL, you might want to check these guys out at Monster Transmission. I have been there and have spoken to them and was impressed, but haven't bought yet. They have everything you need for a 200-4R swap, but a crossmember. The last I looked their HD 200-4R swap kit was $1800 with a trans cooler. BTO has the crossmember. Monster Trans is located an hour drive west of Orlando and out in the country. http://www.eatmyshift.com/ I am also considering a BTO level 3, but haven't decided yet.

I had a TH400 with a 3.55 rear gear and got about 12mpg. Changed to a BTO lev2 and now I get about 17mpg. Of coyurse that is highway driving, I have no Idea what the difference is running around town with this lead foot. trans swap

I have a 700R4 and 3.08 behind a mild 375 - 400HP 406ci in a 71 Coupe that does 18 MPG at cruise with the AC on via a Q-Jet (say 70 MPH or so).

Default Not in CA or FL

I'm over in Iraq, my Vette is in VA and I'm moving to CO when I get back. I want to have the 200r4 installed in my '80.
Where can I get this done? CA & FL are too far to haul the car to have BTO or monster do the install for me.
Thanks!

you can buy it and install it yourself, no majick, it bolts right in no driveshaft changes needed, but needs a new cross member.

I just got mine (2004r level 2) from Bowtie. I will be putting it in over the Labor Day holiday. I have the stock engine, 3.08 rearend, TH350, true duals and am getting about 16-17 right now. Their website says I should get about 23-24. You can go to their website as well and use their calculator by giving it your readend ratio and tire size. If you want, I will keep you posted on how it goes. Good luck.

if your vette came w/a th400 u can use the stock crossmember, u might have to notch it to get to the rear oil pan bolt, i had to but others didn't. u have to change the yoke & universal to the 200r4

Had small block and automatic with 3.08 gears, never got over 13mpg.
Put in 700r BTO stage 2 and still get 13mpg if I never get out of town but all highway driving I can get 22mpg .
BTO was very helpful on the install I did myself. Had trouble at first, tranny would not shift into 4th. BTO trouble shot over the phone and backed up their product by sending me a new valve body which took care of the problem. Did not have to send trans. back to California for warranty
