I still have the original catalytic converter on my '76 L82. I just ordered a hi-flow cat. to replace it from Mid-America (it was about time). Any estimates on how the replacement will affect my HP? Everything else is still stock.
I replaced the somewhat clogged stocker with a Products For Power unit on my '81, and the difference was shocking. I don't know how much of it had to do with the clogging, and how much was because of the improved design, but the improvements in throttle response and torque were really amazing. I wouldn't know how to estimate horsepower increases. I just know that when I drove away from the shop after getting the new one installed, I left rubber on the road in second gear, which that car had never done before. It sounded better, too.

Do they have a web page or a phone number to contact them?
Where did you see them listed?
BSeery,
I got the new cat about, oh... maybe 7 years ago, bought and installed at a local shop. I have a vague recollection that the PFP line is somehow associated with the Walker muffler people. I've tried to find info on PFP on the internet today at the request of another esteemed forum member :D but couldn't. At any rate, it cost me about $150 installed. Regardless of whether you can find a PFP unit now, consider one from Random Technology. Their stuff is pretty impressive. Check it out: http://www.randomtechnology.com
