Jacking up the Vette
How do you home mechanics get under your cars to do things like tranny removal and exhausts.. I've lifted one side up about a foot and a half or so to crawl under but there's no way I could pull a transmission out. I've seen the posts on those car lifts but the cross members look like they would be in the way. How do you do it? Pictures are helpful if you gotem..

Heres how i do it. First, from the front, I jack the entire front with a floor jack under the engine cradle. I lift it good and high. Then put jackstands under the lower controll arms or frame behind the front tire depending on what work is to be done. Next I move the roll jack to under the center diff from rear. Again lift it high and place stands under the frame just infront of the trailing arm mounts. I can get the entire frame a good 18" off the slab. Always let the car down gentally onto the stands give it a wiggle to make sure its stable. NEVER..get under a car unless its supported by jackstands.
