Rear-end Noise
I own a '72 Stingray with 34,000 mi. and the rear end was just serviced for new seals and U joints all around. The retaining clips on the side yokes were left-off and after 1000 miles I returned the car and had them put back in. Two days later I'm hearing rubbing noise coming from the differential when cornering. I'm scheduled to take the car back for the shop to look at it on Thursday. Any ideas as to what the noise is?

Were new yokes installed? What was the endplay afterwards. If they drained the oil maybe they didn't install any posi additive? You have to look over the area, it might not be the diff but something else rubbing, French locks, bent joint flange,etc?

My 81 does the same thing but only after the car is hot and after hard accelerating through corners. The diff was serviced, fixed about 6 months then started doing it again. Do you think its the wrong fluid/posi additive as well or could something else be going on?
