Retiring the L82 out of my '74. Picked up another 350 the other day and would like get it around the 300hp range if possible before I drop it in. The 350 I got ran strong with no smoke and I don't want to get into the bottom end at this point, so just looking for top end ideas.
What I got is:
3970010 block
I268 date
V0927TKT stamp
Not sure on CR, maybe in the 8 range for this engine
'78 Truck block which I believe is a LS9 165hp
Will be running Hooker sidepipes and would like to keep my Q-jet & air cleaner so it all fits as stock under the hood. So any ideas to get this thing up to about the 300hp flywheel level
I have stock bottom end on my L-48 motor. With 76cc Performer heads (9.2-9.5 CR????), Magnum 270H cam, Performer Intake, Hooker headers, crappy Q-jet, TH400, 3.08 gears, mech fan, alternator, ps, water pump, it makes 250 rwhp.
According to 20-35% loss, that's 313-384 fwhp. Your 300 target is very easy with stock bottom end.

Good luck.
35% loss?!? Where did you possibly get that number from? 20% is definitely more realistic
Anyway, 300 at the crank should be dead easy. One of the top-end kits that you can buy would get you there - I've heard good things about Trick Flow's kits
