Are you gonna try to do a write up? I am kind of interested in doing something like that to my 76. Nice job...

You know I will definately do that in the near future. More to it than what I had anticipated but I really like the outcome. Thanks for the kudos

Looks Great !!!

What speedo cable did you use to connect your speedometer? My 82 has a clip on and I need a screw on. Would an earlier year without cruise control work?

Default Carbon Fibre

Looks Great, i did a similar Job on my 80, i used the carbon fibre gauges 5" tach & 5" electric 160 mph Speedo, but i used 2 5/8" Gauges for the Vac, fuel, volts, oil, and water.

i hate to admit but your fit and finish turned out much better than mine.

way to go!!!

Looks Great!!! Where did you mount the sending unit for the oil temp guage? Also did you use the stock wires for the fuel level? Were they Pink and Brown? If so did you run PINK to the "I" terminal and Brown to the "S"?

thanks again for all the kudos. The speedo and the tach are 5". I cut out an aluminum plate for them to set in. Had to remove the clear plastic from the face plate because the gauges contacted it and besides the hole for the trip meter would not work. On the speedo cable I went to O,Reillys last night and thumbed through a cable book and found one that is real close to the original only with the screw on ends. I will get the cable tomorrow and let you know if it works and what part # it is. If it won't work I will have to go down to the local speedometer shop and have one fabricated.

Default gauges

i used thick black plexiglass both on the main gauges and the side gauges.

i did away with the spedo cable by using an electronic speedo. run wires back to the trany, and attach a device to the tranny and then your done.

While I was doing the gauges I pulled the tilt and tele to tighten up the looseness it had acquired over the years. Will reinstall after I getthe speedo cable installed.

eddiej82,
I installed the cable from o'reillys this evening and it looks like it will work ok. It is a little shorter than the stock cable but with careful routing it fit just fine. The manufacturer is Pioneer Inc. and the part number is CA-3040. The best part is the cable was less than $9 bucks. I haven't driven the car yet, still have to install the column. Hopefully will give a report this weekend. Oh the grommet in the fire wall that the stock cable runs through is not a regular grommet. It has a metal back and snaps into the hole in the firewall. Had to snap mine out and split the hole somwhat to get the speedometer end through it. Hope this helps.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Although The CA 3040 wouldn't work in mine because I deleted the cruise control, they were more than happy to let me look in the book to find what I needed. I ended up with a CA 3002 that is a little longer ( a foot maybe) and it fit perfectly. So if anyone else is running an Autometer speedometer in a 78- 82 without cruise control, this is the cable to use. Best part is it was under $10

We dont have an O'rielleys(sp?) out here - who is the mfr of that cable so that I can get it from a local shop.

BTW Jetmech your install is just killer clean, I did my phantom install several years back and did a write up of the install, I would love to see a write up of how you did yours.

I didnt own a digital camera at the time so i couldnt really document the project beyond writing about it.
