I too was thinking about reinforcing the frame around the steering box to avoid some flexing.

:
I do have pictures and run a couple of post on this install. I will try to find it or at least some pictures.

'As for frame flex with the stock setup it is terrible. Like twin Turbo I welded over the hole, plated the bottom and outside of the frame and even went solid mounts to support the frame.
With no weight on the car start the motor and then carefully unbalance the control valve and watch the frame get a workout.
NOt a pretty site

I too have Hooker sidepipe headers. If the '99 and up Jeep box is the same width as the stock one I won't have any problems. I would like too see some pics of other's box with headers. Also, is there a kit that included a new arm and any mounting hardware even if I already have the box? Or can I swap out stock arms and mounting?

There are a number of problems with a stock box. The pitman arm doesn't work, with the kits the pitman spline is remachined to the stock pitman arm can be used.
The stock box input double "D" is too large to NO standard universal will fit, the kit remachines this double "D"
The stock box doesn't match any of our holes in the frame. The kit includs new holes and adapter brackets.
No a stock box requires fabrication skills and a little machining, certainly a homemade welded up pitman arm.

Corvette Steering is probably the best package deal since he resplines the box for the Corvette pitman arm. Or you could do what I'm doing and piece a kit together out of scrap metal and randomly acquired odds and ends.

Ordered mine from Tom @ Corvette Steering a couple of days ago. If the wife ever figures out how much I'm spending on the Vette I'll have to convert it to one of those station wagon models just so I'll have a place to sleep.

I've only chucked a few. The most fun is when a wrench or socket breaks and goes flying on it's own. I had a huge truck differential almost crush my arm at a pick-n-pull in St. Louis a few years back. I wanted to throw that SOB but it was all I could do to pick it up.

I can't wait to upgrade the steering on my Vette. I'm kind of focusing on Hydro break booster and Jeep steering for the major upgrades to the stock systems.

I've got a Hydroboost unit on the shelf right now. I need to get that old vacuum booster out soon...not a fun job. I'm definately turning the studs around and putting the nuts on from the outside.

Yeah I was thinking of doing that too. Stud conversions will make most jobs easier.

Hey Batman...see if you can help me on this thread...
