Default 1/4 mile times?????? tripower

I was curious as to what 1/4 mile time and mph to expect.
I have a 69 vert. tripower with ported 074 aluminum heads. 10.5:1 compression. .720 lift solid roller, 468 cubes, internally balanced with ultra-light weight pistons, crank, and aluminum flywheel. 3.55 gears, 4speed, 255-60 tires.
Thanks,
Scott

My geuss would be somewhere in the 12's, possibly even 11's. Not a whole lot of info to go on. How much h.p.? Street radials or drag radials? How much does the car weigh?

ET is a function of getting your power to the ground and USING what you have via traction, chassis set-up, torque-multiplication, and gearing, while MPH reflects the horsepower:
former Forum-member "Bence13_33" had a 'built' high-winding 468 BBC, 4-speed, 4.11s, and slicks, running 12-teens @ 116 that I witnessed at my local strip.

I'll 'expect' a full-and-detailed report after your outing!

What ever happen to Bence?

I'd say 12's, if you can drive. 13's if you've never been on a track. Spin baby spin.

Not a very good ET with a 3.55 gear. You will probably spin the tires all the way through 1st gear eating up the clock. You need a shorter 4 series gear for drag racing. {4.11 to 4.56} It may MPH decent though.

Default Tires!

You'll only need three gears, and probably a new set of tires after 3-4 passes! Seriously, if you just want to try it and don't want mess with the guts, buy a decent set of sticky tires. Notice I didn't say slicks. That'll only bring heartache (broken parts). Warm up the tires (no water!), leave gently (medium RPM) and get after it in the two upper gears. Have fun.

I'm running a 439 that's milder than your combo- see my sig if you're interested. Rear gearing is the same but I can leave the line a bit more easily due to my auto trans. With my current set up I'd be very surprised if I couldn't drive the car into the 11s.

Last time I was at the strip I ran low 12s w/ a trap speed of 112+ MPH but that was with lesser heads, a fairly mild hyraulic flat tappet cam, stock intake for the 390 HP 427, and no cowl induction. I did bolt on some M/T Sportsman Pro cheater slicks.

Given your power level, if you don't put some sticky tires out back you'll be spinning your tires probably well into 3rd gear. With traction, assuming your engine is well tuned, 11s should be a piece of cake along with a very healthy trap speed. I just put on a set of Nitto Drag Radials and am pleasantly surprised with the amount of traction they give me. You'll need similar tires & some practice launching to get anywhere near your potential. Good luck.

I would say low 12's should be very possible with that combo. The light weight crank and flywheel should help the engine rev, and the 468 cubes should have plenty of torque for the 3.55's, IMHO, I don't think you should need more gear, traction should be your biggest problem with those tires

Yeah...it was fun watching Bence and his father & assorted friends and relatives build up that engine and take it on the track.

My guess would be high 12's...maybe mid 12's...mostly due to the fact that the 3.55 gears are going to make your 60 foot times look like you were driving a ricer even if the 255/60's are drag radials. On the other hand you might have a gate speed of like 125MPH.
