Default Tires Size

Hello all, I am new at this, back in Feb,2006 I bought a 1975 Corvette.

It currently has P235/60R15 Tires on it and drives like a real bear, can anyone help me with the correct tire size I should have on this car.

I have been working hard at putting all new parts back in this to make I a correct car again.
Thanks Shilo

I run P235 70R-15s on my '68 and my '80 and don't have any problems with them.

can you define what you mean by "driving like a real bear?"

i have no power stearing and would describe my car as driving like a real bear when i am in a parking lot, but that has nothing to do with the tires.

what is the car doing or not doing that makes it a bear?

Correct tire conversion from the original tire is 225/70R15. Some later models ('78+) had the optional 255/60R15. However, I have found that on the older models, if any of the suspension is worn or sagging, you may have tire rub.

The 235/60R15 are small for the car. You are probably also getting an inaccurate speedo reading because of the smaller tires.

255/60-15's I like the BFGoodrich T/A Radials for a good cheap tire on all 4 wheels.

I have a 75 also. It looks as if you have the aluminum wheels on your car. On my aluminum wheels I run the same size as my 1982 Vette, 25560R15. If your car drives poorly that is usually a sign of poor alignment or worn suspension parts. Corvettes need to be four wheel aligned. Also not just anyone can align a Vette so that it tracks correctly. Call your local Corvette Club or Club's and find out in your area who does good work. A poorly aligned Corvette can be actually irritating to drive. Goodyear makes an Eagle GT II that looks and rides fairly decent.
Good Luck with your car.

You indicated that you have 235 on your vet -- which brand and is it truck tire ? what do you think about Michelin touring 225 60 15 ?

If you want the same tire circumference as the original tires, you want either 225-70-15 (earlier C3's including 1975) or 255-60-15 (later C3's).
Since this thread started, there have been many posts the past few years about tire sizes. You can do a search to find as much tire info as you need and more.
