Courtesy lights dead
My new 81 has a fair number of problems so one by one I ask your help.
The coutesy lights are dead. If I really want them on I can use the light switch turned to the stop and all three will light. Otherwise, open the door and nada on any of the lights.
Where do I start troubleshooting?

sounds like a bad door pin switch. In the door jamb at the front you will see a push pin switch sticking out. Check there could be broken, missing wire, or just cruddy and not making good contact.

The courtesy light switches are well known for being, ummm, shall we say "delicate"!
If you purchase replacement switches, make sure to also purchase the contacts that are crimped onto the wires and are inserted into the switch. Those contacts almost always break when you pull them out of the switch (which you'll need to do in order to replace the old switch with a new one).
