Default 77 C5 Project (Pics)

From an earlier post I was asked to post some pictures. The project is a 77 that I want to update to the best street performance possible using the design themes from the C5/C6. I have removed the body, sand blasted and painted the frame LeMans Blue. A VBP replacement suspension and Steeroids has been installed. I plan to use offset trailing arms, 18" x 8 1/2" front and 18" x 10 1/5 rear wheels and tires. I plan to use the C6 style available on ebay. I found a hydroboost for the brakes at a pretty good price. I also found an LS1 / 4L60e from an 02 TransAm that I palne to install. By the way, I am totally new to this type of electronic engine so any advise, warnings or suggestions are welcome and appreciated. I want good street performance with good milage (not a race car). The body will be Datona Sunset Orange and all chrome will be powder coated flat black. I am considering a dual exhaust through cats and mufflers with an electric cut out to divert exhaust through a set of side pipes. (Does this make sense?) Should be fun. I'll post more photos as it progresses and will likely be looking for help from time to time.

Thats looking really sharp there. Any reason why you didn't go for a semi-coilover suspension? The engine combo sounds good. Good luck to you.

From everything I read, it looked like the glass leaf spring had pretty good performance and I really liked the ability to adjust both spring rate and ride height. I have done other projects where I didn't have this ability and wished I did.

Hell of an modification list! You must have a lot of free time on your hands. Did you add stiffening plates to the frame cross memebers. I have seen this done on other projects and then read later that they needed to be cut back for clearance on re-assembly. Search the thread base and you may save yourself some time if you did.

Looks good so far, youll love the ls1,one of the bext mods i did.Ill be starting my new frame build up in a few weeks ,ill be painting the frame silver frost mettalic to go with the L-88 stripes ill be adding .Ive been debating on trying to adapt c5 suspension and brakes on the front and the rear spring setup you went with,or transfer all my vb&p stuff to it and get the front glass spring too.I have the glass 360 spring now but want something adjustable.Your frame looks great.

Have you thought of doing the body lemans blue too? Also you might want to cinsider adapting hooker sidepipes to it,i did mine and love the sound of the ls1,in fact i just took my augger style mufflers out of them and now there wide open.

LeMans Blue is one of my favorite colors but I have a C6 that is Sunset Orange and the color is great. It looks good, even if it is a little dirty. Since I plan to drive this car a lot, I opted for a color that is easier to keep clean on a daily basis and still looks "Corvette".

That is a very nice looking frame. I love it. Keep up the good work and it is going to be one super nice vette.

Keep the pics coming.
