I'm prepping the 73 for paint. My "Stingray" side emblems were attached with the thick two sided tape-like adhesive, which has lost it's 'adhesive' powers.
Does anybody know if the this two sided adhesive tape, which spells 'Stingray', is available?
My "Stingray" emblems have the locator studs but they're not long enough for speed nuts.
most auto parts carry 2sided tape for sticking emblems back on all you need is a little patiance cutting it to form your emblem also you can use clear silicone with is an enheasive[glue ]we use it fronm mirrors to emblems
I assume that your 73 is like my 72 and earlier C3s in that the emblem should have long studs but they don't have speed nuts on them. The studs serve to locate the emblem on the fender in the proper orientation.
IMO, the two sided tape does wear out which is why so many C3s have the stamped speed nuts. I think that 3M makes a two sided tape but I would use it cautiously, making sure it holds well before removing the speed nuts.
I just put mine on last week. I tried the 2 sided 3M tape but did not like the way it held the emblem out from the fender, because of the thickness of the tape. I ended up threading a speed nut on the middle post on each side and that was enough to hold it nice and tight.
My 72 stingray emblems has the four long posts, black adhesive material, but NO speed nuts. Mine has four clips that the studs pushed into to hold them into place. The 72 assembly manual illustrates this. Called Trim parts and the told me this is correct for my year.

This is the correct way - there were no nuts on them.
Clips huh,..is it the small rectangle clips that are about 1/2" long that push on to the stud?
My studs are only approx 3/8" long,..think these clips would work?
The "clips" go into the holes first, then you push the pins into them. Intention was for the "clips" to lock into the holes , then the pins would be held (metal to metal friction) in by the "clips".
No clips?...that's what I thought. Thanks Big_G. But I'm back to the original question,..where to get the two-sided adhesive tape...
...or,..has anybody used barrell nuts? I suppose I'd have to enlarge the holes a bit in the fenders. I've used them on steel fenders but do they work on thicker fiber-glass?
Advice welcome.

The barrel nuts will be too big. They will be visible. I know it is not cheap, but new emblems come with the 2-sided tape attached. 3-M makes the tape in varying thicknesses, just takes a while with an X-acto knife to trim the tape.

That's what I did...bought the 3M tape at AdvanceAuto, placed it on the emblem and cut around the letters with my Xacto knife, peeled back the tape and placed it on the fender. the tape wasn't more than 1/16" thick. can't really see it on the car so I'm good to go now.
No nuts, clips or anything other than double-sided tape was used. 1972 AIM illustration:
I didn't think so either - but I have actually seen the clips used there - and looked original! These clips are used on other "pin type" emblems - but I'm not clear as to where, where not, and when.
