Ones from an f-body won't fit. They're either Gen II or Gen III blocks on those and don't exactly bolt right up. Gotta go with truck heads.

Do a search on the forum for different applications. There are tons of deals on new, reman'd and used vortecs on ebay. Another good resoursce is FRED BEANS a forum sponsor. You will need a vortec intake, your ram horns will work. Might need new head bolts and long slot rockers, if you go to a more aggressive cam. Best of luck.

That's a pretty damn good deal. Practically a bolt on and go setup.

You can find 'em on '96 - '99 trucks with 5.7L engines. I know the shop where those in the link are machined and they're top rate. They don't do any valve job work, etc. - just machine 'em for higher lift cams, screw-in studs and guideplates. They do top-notch work and I wouldn't hesitate to use 'em. If it were me, I'd pull the valves and do a bit of bowl work. HTH

If I remember right the preferred casting number ends in 906. Some think they flow better or were less prone to cracking. I will try to verify this when I get home and look thru my vette bible.
