82 Crossfire is running extremely rich. The exhaust fumes will knock you out if your behind the car when it is at idle. The car idles a little high around 1000 rpm sometimes around 1200 but settles down to around 900-1000 most of the time. What would cause such a rich mixture? Are there any adjustments that can be made or any sensors that may need changing out?

Can't remember what year the charcoal canister was added, but if that is going bad or filling with liquid gas instead of just vapors it can cause problems.

Do you tune your carb for it to run that fast on purpose? Usually unless you have a lopey cam, 900 is a good parked idle. In gear, I like 500.
