Default Orange wire

I have an orange wire that comes out of the dash about 6 inches to the left of the distributor. It has a rubber boot on the end and looks like it fit a spade type connector. It may have once been connected to the TH400 I removed. It does not show on the wiring diagram I have. Any Ideas what it might be?

there is an 18ga orange wire that went from the TSC solenoid to the auto tranny kickdown switch so that may have been it.

The TCS solenoid is under the hood. it was solely an emissions componet. You can easily run your car without it. It controlled when it would allow vacuum advance to to distributor - basically it only allowed vacuum advance to the distributor under two conditions:
1. car is cold during warm-up
2. when the trans is in high gear (3rd w/ an auto trans, 4th with a manual trans)

I'm not sure since my '78 doesn't have one, they only used these for a couple of years, but the wire might be going into the cockpit to a switch or relay by the shifter - or in your case where the auto shifter used to be - that controlled the tranny.
