I was going to remove my torque converter-to-flex plate bolts last night. I removed one and went to turn the engine over to remove the next bolt. I put a long bar on the front crank bolt to try to turn it over. The motor wouldn't budge, it only further tightened the crank bolt until I couldn't turn it anymore. I don't have the sparks plug out. Will removing the spark plugs make that much of a difference or should I try bumping the engine with the starter. If I have to use the starter, I have to take the battery to get recharged because it has sat for awhile.
Do I have to worry about using the starter when there is only one bolt left, or will the flexplate stay straight even though the other bolts are already removed?

Removing the plugs will make a huge difference
Then you can get a wrench on the front of the crank shaft to rotate the engine and loosen them all (you may even be able to spin the engine by grabbing hold of the toruqe converter)
With the plugs you may need to give the wrench on the flex plate bolts a good whack with a hammer but they will come loose

Removing the plugs work, but be prepared to find a way to lock down the flexplate as turn on the bolts will also turn the engine over and make it hard to remove the converter bolts.
