Pull the seat, then the door panel and you can access the door latch works from inside. Sux, PITA, but better than breaking the door. Do a search, we had several threads with pretty good pics to go with them a month or so ago.

dude, follow the rod from the inside door handle up to the mechanism that opens the latch. reach your hand in and rotate it to open the door. you can also disconnect the linkage from the outer door handle if it's binding up the mechanism somehow. do you have an assembly manual? if so cheeck out the pcs and you can get it. oh, also make sure the rod that moves the lock mechanism from inside hasn't gtten bumped. I ran into this once and didn't realize it for 5 minutes so I just sat there stumped as to why nothing was moving/opening

Do the search, the pics will help. there is a lever that you have to press down, you can see it from the inside.

well, the inner door panel does not come off without serious damage. an air chisel on the door latch might get you freed up without damaging the door or panel.

Look closely at the lock-if it does not unlock 100% it will not allow latch to work-its part of the safety of the lock-follow lock rods and push lock lever on latch to its limit-also if the outside handle doesnt come back all the way the lock wont unlock-it might be best to remove all rods and then try

This wasnt very clear so I altered it a little bit---what I'm trying to say if all parts of the latch dont return to there predescribed positions things wont work---if the outside handle and inside handle dont return you cant lock or unlock----if the lock lever on the latch doesnt return 100% the inside and outside handles are rendered useless --when they get old and things get loose and springs break sometimes levers dont return-try to get all levers back to their positions-if this doesnt work then its time for the SAWSALL!!! Hmmmm did I clear that up or just confuse some more?

When mine stuck closed, I lowered the window and started poking around inside at the mechanism and wha-laa! There is a lever, that if you either pull or push it with a screwdriver, it will open the door. You also need to make sure it is unlocked, which is another lever. Good luck. Not that bad once you figure it out. Took me about an hour to get it the first time. Second time, 2 minutes.

I had th e same problem, but on both sides. I had to replace both mechs or neither door would open. It was Dukes for me for about a year man.

Anyway, I did finally get the door open with a click. Since you have the door panel off, get a long flat head screw driver, and a flash light.

From the outside, looking down into the door against the jam, you will see the large, flat, almost squared arm that moved with the linkage. This is what's SUPPOSED to move, but it has separated from the MAIN release...which is a tiny, hard to see tab, sitting flush with the bulk head side of the inner door. It's directly behind it. Flush with the jam. That is what you have to get your flat head on, and push down. It may slip so have a long screw driver. Get a solid push, and it should 'Click' and release the door.

Go slow, don't lose patients. I had to do this to BOTH my doors.

Also, get on Ebay, and order a LH and RH locking mechs. They are not cheap, maybe $90 each, but you will want these replaced now or the problem will never stop, and it'll even start on the other side.

You talking about the door latches? I got a good used one from Gary for $50 for my driver's side door.

I have my panels off on my 74, I can take pics if you need...
the mechanisims aren't that hard to rebuild... mine work like new.
if I remenber right if you pull the panel have the window rolled up you can remove the outer handle. the latch assembly is accessable to open with just a finger. mine was apart for 6 months preping for paint.
pm me if you need pics.. 74 / 75 should be the same....
