Does anyone make a mandrel bent 2.5" exhaust for C-3's? Thanks.

I may get some flack for this response but in reality I don't think the difference between a mandrel bent and regularly bent pipe will make all that much difference on our cars. It's a relatively straight shot from the engine to the rear of the car since the pipes run under the differential rather than over it like on most cars. The only real bends to speak of are the two at the rear where they make a right angle to the mufflers. On my system the pipes going into the mufflers, which were part of the kit from Mid America are mandrel bent so that leaves just the bend below the diff which isn't. I honestly believe that very little is gained for the added cost of mandrel bent tubes in this situation. Here's a pic.

Hmmm...I'm not sure if it's a big deal or not. There is a big reduction in cross sectional area on a non mandrel bent bend. Everything done to make an engine a better air pump helps-all the details add up. Is it worth it? I'll have to get some prices.

I honestly don't know if it's a big deal on a street vehicle, given that there's additional restriction (mufflers) at the end of the pipes. I've always just welded up my own exhaust, using mandrel bends, but that's just because I buy the elbows and straight pipes and create my own. However, if you're running large pipes (and a lowered car,) you might be stuck with (intentionally) squished pipes anyway (under the differential) to keep from bottoming out on the pipes. Just my two cents.

ps: I bought my '69 in Anchorage years ago when I was living there. The roads there were a lot more fun to drive on than here. But I suppose, on the flip side, the driving season here is a bit longer than it was there.
