Default Carburetor Problems

I'm tired of messing with my Qjet and am thinking of an Edelbrock. Do all Edelbrock Performer Series require an adapter plate, and if so, are there any adapters thin enough to allow the carb to be installed and still have no hood clearance problems? Ops, almost forgot, 1970 350/300 stock.

Which model Edelbrock?
Personally I think they are over priced
If you really want to give up on thr QJet (Which I wouldnt recommend) I would go with a Holley Street Avenger
Bolts right up to the Performer Intake........ great carb

Which intake are you using?

I like the Ed 1406 / 07. Great carbs, well suited for a 350. I can't remember what manifold they bolt to, because I have an aftermarket Weiand that has both patterns.

The 1400 series is a square bore which pales in comparison to the square bore Holley Street Avenger... The SA is extremely easy to tune and is about the same price as the Edelbrock.

Seeing that we have no idea which intake manifold Apocolips is using it's impossible to give accurate information until we have this information.

This does mean he has a 4bbl spread bore right? Or am I mistaken?

If it is a stock 1970 350/350 then yes, it would be a spreadbore cast iron intake which doesnt leave many options other than QuadraJet or a 1900 series Edelbrock
Or a square bore with an adapter plate.

Right. What's the shortest adapter plate available now?

I wonder if we could talk him into an aftermarket manifold and upgrade it with the carb.

Hood clearance is an issue with the pre- 73' hood. I wont speculate anymore until I hear from Apocolips

Thanks everyone. I really appreciate the advise. After talking to the folks at Edelbrock I have decided to stay with a Qjet. The only way that I could get a Performer Series Edelbrock to fit under my hood would have been to replace the intake and right now the budget well not allow that.

Again thanks to everyone and have a great weekend!
