What year did Astro...
ventilation cease to exist? On my '75 coupe (A/C equiped) the rear deck vent valves and related hardware are non-existent. The fit for the exterior vent grills is terrible. (not flush) This makes me believe that the rear quarters and deck have been replaced. Which takes me into a second question. How can I tell if the panels are original? I've checked some of the seam work (caulking) where I can see, and it looks 'hand made'. (almost a smeared with fingers look) The rear deck panel inner surface is a light gray in color, and seems awful clean for the age of the vehicle. My service manual is a '74, and I lack the '75 supp's. The assy manual shows ref to this, but not specific application.

ROD, according to my Corvette Black Book, Astro Ventilation was eliminated starting w/'76 models. The General then went to a rear window defogger. BTW I'm only abt 15-20 miles from you in Lapeer... :cheers: :seeya

Only non A/C cars had the astro vent door assy. When a car was factory equipped with A/C the assy line guys bonded over or did not cut out the holes for the astro vent doors. But the side glass kept the astro script I think until 74-75??? Even though the car had A/C. Thad

I agree with TNT...my '74 coupe w/AC had the back vents bonded over but had the Astro script on the windows. My '75 vert w/AC has no script on the windows. This vert's back vents are simply covers with a baffle to channel water past the fuel tank onto the ground. Wonder why they even put them back there in the first place instead just leaving the back area behind the deck completely filled in. Doesn't make sense. :confused:
