Default Vacuum Line Substitution?

Is there a place that sells the tiny white vacuum line that goes from the heater control valve into the dash. The original is pretty brittle . I was hoping to avoid having to order it if I can pick it up locally somewhere..thanks

I found a place, some looking around and I'll bet they have what we need.

For my situation I found using steel brake line in the appropriate size works great. Just use regular vacuum line as connection ends. A little tougher to bend and fit, but if you take your time it works well. and doesn't deteriorate.

You can test that with a good drill bit set. Try bits until they won't fit. That's inside diameter. What's more important is the OD though because that's how you'll have to couple it all together.

My local Auto Zone carries it. It think it is in the "Help" section but can't remember.

I just measured the vac tubes, the white ones, that I have to replace too, and the OD is 1/8. Inside won't matter much so long as they'e close. Factory ID is terribly small so bigger won't hurt at all and you probably won't find smaller.

http://www.menards.com/

They're everywhere up here in Minnesota, but it looks like the closest one to you is in southern Iowa. And, unfourtunately, they don't have anything online as far as products or order placing. Tonight I will stop by and buy 100ft. and try it out for replacing the heater vacuum line, let you know how it goes later tonight.

How were you going to couple the lines?

Here is a solution:look close in pic..I bought(black)vacuum line that fit over the old yellow)white one..just cut part off end of original and take it with you shopping (for correct fit...)these lines get brittle near engine above valve...

You can see where I fit new line to yellow(white)one..

I will probably just run all new line of tube from the HVAC to the engine bay.

And while we're on vacuum, where can new check valves be bought? Can you get a kit hat covers all of them for your car?

Most of the big vendors have the vacuum system parts that are Corvette-specific.

I'm going to use steel or copper tube to replace that horrifyingly brittle plastic vac tube. I've patched mine with rubber hose twice, now it's sheared off inside the grommet.
