i been trying to track down the battery draining problem i been having.
i hear a click in the center console when I reconnect the battery and the seat belt light comes on everytime i reconnect the battery?
ok I took a test light and read the fuse panel.
(all the lettering is worn off BTW)
with the key off all the fuses on the left side are hot
and all the fuses on the right side have no power.
is this correct?
Seat belt light comes on with the key and you push the button under it to turn it off. Clicking is probably one of the micro-switches in the Heater control assy for the fan, or A/C related if you have it, again only with the key on. Sounds like your getting an ignition feed from somewhere, possibly the 12v boost side of the starter solenoid. Give us some more details...
yeah ill dig farther into it.
the fuse panel looks similar to my 69 Z-28s
but i did notice the blower switch for the heater/AC is working kinda funny.
with switch **** all the way to the left (should be off)
im getting the blower on low speed.
with it on HI all the way to the right it seems to shut off?
miss wired most likely?
shouldnt it turn off when switch is all the way left?

This is not right. As someone said, you are getting a live feed to the seatbelt light - definitely wrong.
More Problems. The fuse panel post confirmed my memory and shows that the clock and courtesy lights are live with the key off, so both sides of that fuse should be hot.
If you are saying only the left column of fuses are live at both ends of the fuses as opposed to the left SIDE of each fuse, there are REALLY problems in your wiring.
Blower switch is working correctly, at least if it's non-A/C. The blower "idles" in the left position, and HI is controlled by the aptly named "hi-blower" relay mounted on the RH side rear of the engine compartment. They're pretty hardy, but do fail in which case HI won't work. It's usually a faulty ground or bad/loose connectors at the relay. Bit pricey, so make sure it's bad first.
You really need an AIM and/or the wiring diagram. I have both and they're essential with these old cars.
thks all all wiring info and diagrams would be appericiated.
looks like someone did a wiring hack job and ill be busy during the winter.
im almost at the point of ordering a new harness for the interior.
i was also told from a previous 69 vette owner to check the compartment light switch in the rear compartments.
hmm i didnt know they had a light back there lol.
Mine was an electrical disaster when I got it, and very intimidating! I just went through and fixed one thing at a time, hooking stuff back up and finding the original problems. I did manage to smoke the amp gauge, but got lucky and found a fellow member that had an OEM new one. This forum rocks!
