Hi all, on my way home last night from Corvettes@Carlisle, the wiper door on my '68 opened but all I got was a wiper overide light on the console and no wipers. I had to make the entire 3 hr drive home in pouring rain with no wipers. I seem to remember this happening once before but I can't remember what I did to correct it? I did notice that the wiper motor is extremely hot but I'm not sure if its the motor itself that is hot or just the case because of the heat generated by the engine. The fuse isn't blown. Can anyone tell me where to start looking???

Did you happen to do starter work and get the ground wire that goes on the block connected to the pos. term. on solenoid?
From: Wilmington DE, Drive it like you stole it, 68 327 4 speed coupe

If the overide switch checks out, also look to see if the plunger is engaging the microswitch under the hood, and the the switch itself is good.
On the 68 wiper motor there are three wires one goes to to 12 v+ on the light switch/ ignition switch circuit,. one goes the the wiper solenoid for ground on the back of the tack, the third goes to the microswitch on the firewall which prevents that blades from operating till the door is fully open.
hope that helps

I hate to ask you this..... Could you have accidently turned the "override" **** under the steering column? If so, the wipers will stay in whatever position they're presently in.
my lights wont go up or down, I think my son pulled them up then pushed them down, now they dont work at all.
There are many test to go threw on this. The very first thing is the vacuum supply and leaks in the system. Did you try the over ride control under the dash? Do you have vacuum leaks under the hood? Are all the vacuum lines under the hood in good shape with no cracks or pinched lines? AL.
