Well compared to My Saturn it is!
I was looking at getting a little more power from the little four banger and it seems for about $1300 you can get the car to put out a total of 150 Hp which an increase of only 27hp!
This includes headers, extrude honing the intake, cold air, computer mods....
For 27 HP? :mad
They don't even seem to be able to make a cam for the thing that actually helps either , but they do sell lots of stickers  :U
I mean for $1300 I can ge a couple of hundred Hp out of a small block!
Kieth if you're really looking to get performance out of a saturn, you must put a blower on it. You'd probably spend about 6 grand before your done, with engine, fuel, and blower expences, not to mention drive train and possibly transmission. Sure you could have a fast 300hp saturn, but its obvious that thats not what those cars are for. Stick to your vette, like you decided.

V-tech Sticker: 35hp
Weapon-R Sticker: 15 hp
12" Yellow Plastic Rims with low profile tires: 25hp
Full Black Tint: 10hp
A big saturn logo decal across the back window and on the first 6 inches of windshield: 25hp
A 6" muffler tip: 15hp
4" lowering springs: 20hp
Altezza lights: 10hp
These numbers are completely accurate... except that hp stands for homopoints..... :jester
I have to admit, My Talon ricer has a full black tint & k&n filter, but thats it. :p:
That's really funny...there's a Saturn running around town that went the racing stripe (2 yellow stripes on black) + low-pro wheels + fart can route. It makes a *lot* of noise...my girlfriend always says it sounds like those cars have to work *awful* hard to accelerate to 25mph...
She's got a bone-stock '94 Escort GT (only mod: Powerpuff Girls sticker) and took on a stickered-up Civic, just to see what would happen, just up to the speed limit. Despite the noise, she walked away from it without difficulty. Of course he went roaring past after she stopped accelerating at 45mph (always do for some reason...even though it's clear they've lost)...only to see her laughing in his rear-view mirror.
Not bad...I told her the Powerpuff Girls were probably what put her over the top.
Re: Vette Performance is cheap! (UltimateAlternativeWaver)
You guys are funny!
Yea the performance is a joke and the gas milage isn't much better than my Grand Caravan. At least it's paid for and doesn't rust
For those of you that think I should be driving a 'better' car tough doody. It's a '92 it's been paid off for 5 years, And remember what the other choices were in '92 maybe I should be driving a Tempo(?) or how about the OLD Hundai LMAO, yea they were better cars!
Remember I started the thread to say how cheap horsepower was In Vettes

One word solution to low power Saturn -- Nitrous !!!
Or a two word solution maybe -- Trade In.
I love the Saturns, but only expect them to do what they were built to do. They were ment to be a better quality, longer lasting family commuting vehicle. They are not made for racing, hauling, off roading or anything like that. They were made to start each and every time, stay running, have no problems and get from point A to point B safely without rusting !!
I had a 95 Probe GT before I got my C5. Had a strut brace, some nice rims (actually they looked exactly like the current C5 rims) and cold air intate (no stickers at all  )
That was a GREAT car. Totally underappreciated. GREAT handling, good power. I actually miss that car. Too bad they weren't that popular because there were very little mods availabile.
Re: Vette Performance is cheap! (Corellian Corvette)
Ya, the probe gt's are nice little cars. You'd be suprised at the mods they have for them these days. Lots of turbo's. One guy I know of in florida has a twin turbo setup, pushing 750hp. Of course this isn't exactly daily driveable, especially in a fwd car, but who cares right? latuh!
Nathan
I've always thought the Probe GT had more potential, handling-wise, than the Mustang. Never figured out why Ford would build its premier sports car like a Taurus with a bigger engine (my sources say the Taurus SHO is a superior car in almost every respect to the Mustang GT) and then make something fun and sporty like the Probe GT with so much more chassis potential. So it's fwd. Ford showed us that the fwd Focus could be modded out to compete toe-to-toe with the '01 Z06 (it took some scary mods, but they almost pulled it off...I believe it was in C&D), and the Probe GT sits lower and more aggressive than the Mustang or the Focus.
My guess is the name and longstanding reputation is what sells the hell out of Mustangs, not actual performance numbers.
As for the Saturn...I don't know what to tell you, man. It's not a sports car, in the same way my Mazda pickup isn't a sports car. I have no designs to mod it beyond a comfy steering wheel cover and cup holders.
