I have been checking the old post about replacing the seals in our calipers. I put new pads on the front of my car and bled the brakes two weeks ago. The passenger side i was having issues gettig the pads in and i think i screwed the seals up on the caliper. Went out the other day and there was a nice puddle of fluid on the floor Now i have to double check but the po said he put in the SS sleeves when he did the brakes. My question is where can i get the seal for the pistons? I have seen posts about the VBP o ring kits but i want to just get teh basic seals to fix this for now as i plan on upgrading my brakes later when money and time allows. Are these something i can get at an Auto zone/Pep Boys/ or even local Chevy dealer?
What probably happened is when you put the pads in it pushed the piston seals in. A layer of crud builds up just behind the seals and makes for leaks. You can get the seals ($30 I think) and clean up bores or swap for another set from Autozone (around $60 ea.) with a lifetime warranty.
The front seals aren't even that expensive. I think they are ~$13.00 for a single caliper set at AutoZone. Advance auto sells them also but they are more expensive.
