I am putting the dash back into my '69 and was cleaning up the under dash wiring and I discovered what appears to be a condenser wired across the brake light switch leads.
Has anybody ever seen a setup like this?
What purpose would it serve? Can I safely eliminate it?
I would guess, from the splices and quick connectors, that this was done by a PO as I don't think that GM used this wiring method.
My 71' had the same crude looking installation. I think it's just a noise capacitor to stop the brake light switch from making a "clicking" sound in the radio. Looks like an after thought/field fix. Left mine out.

Thanks. That's what I thought, but I was a little concerned about removing it in case it would cause other problems.
Thats funny. I have been troubleshooting my brake light problem on a 69 coupe and there is that same exact setup across the switch. I thought it was a Bubba addation, but maybe not?
