Default Few Questions

1)How much do new leather seat covers usually run?
With and without new padding. I'm looking to either buy some used ones off of Ebay or get a local shop to do it because the leather seat covers online (non E-bay) are outrageously expensive.

2) Can I put in a custom console to fit an aftermarket/new cd head/deck? Those RCA preouts are calling me. ;)

3) What do I have to do/buy to convert my 1975 to having a pop out back window? I know it wasn't available on this model but I have heard it is possible to convert it.

I'm new to the forum, 15 years old, first car ;). Thanks for the help.

There was a post on the forum a few days ago about rear window removal look at the older posts or archives.

Seat covers run around 395 dollars and then they must be installed and this could set you back another 1-2 hundred.

I am sure you can get any kind of radio to fit into your console from Corvette Central or Mid-America

Good Luck,

BE CAREFUL (15 years old + corvette = possible scary situation)
Had I kept the vette I had when I was 16 I would have been Killed in it! (most likely) :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash:

I'll be plenty careful, but can I not install the seat covers myself?

Maybe, depends on how talented you are. Are you talking about real seat covers, the leather or vinyl, or just slip on covers. If you mean slip ons the price will be from 25-400 dollars and you can install them. But these will only protect your seat, not replace it. There were new seat covers on my 69 427 Roadster when I got it, and the were genuine black leather they looked amazing and the receipt showed 395 for the seatcovers and 150 for installation.

installation shouldn't be hard...just need hog clips, steam, and a mit and I believe you could do it...if you have any experiance with working with interiors(like carpet)...I'll be doing mine soon. To me, thats like paying someone 2 hundred dollars to install new weatherstripping....what a rip off. About the only thing I think is logical to be rebuilt by someone else(unless you are totally clueless) is a transmission and rear end. And the rear bearings...other then that I don't see anything on the car that really scares me....Even the 350...there are 5 million books out there on rebuilding them. Oh wait...theres that darned electrical system too
