I don't have any suggestions as I'm not familiar with the C6 seats, I know C4 and C5 seats will fit nicely. Why did you choose the C6 seats, did you get them for a very good price?
I did get them at a good price, but now they seem big inside the car. I haven't mounted them yet, but they appear to be about the same size as the seats in my z06. The seats were taken out of a car with only 700 miles.
Unless you want to modify the floor board you probably have to remove the power part of the seat and use the C3 mounting rails. Atleast that's what I had to do on my C4 seats. I used the C3 rails and made new mounting holes in the C4 seat for the rails. The rails still bolt in the factory locations.
I put C5 seats in mine and they sit tall but thats OK with me since I am short( 5'10" ). Actually helps me see over my L-88 hood. I used the power tracks and made new mounts to lower the tracks as close to the floor as they would go. I just finished a frame-off and if I had known how tall the seats sit I would have cut and lowered the floor pan under the seat to match the footwell level. With the body off the frame this would be no big deal on models with a metal pan. I thought about doing this anyway but I fit just fine and my tall friends can wear sunglasses to keep the bugs out of thier eyes.
It appears that the seats have about 1 1/2 inches that I could cut the front mounts and lower the seats. I know the backs are tall, and the width is fine, I just don't want the steering wheel in my lap. The seats are just so comfortable compared to those stock 80 seats that I really want to get them in and make them work. The seats are even heated.
Unless you are willing to cut out the original floor and fabricate a new lower floor, I would not suggest doing it. I didn't take my own advice and found out the hard way just how much work it entailed. It can be done and I love the results but it is a massive undertaking. When I completely finish my customization of my 1977 t-top, I will post pictures. They should be available by the spring of 2012.
