A few places had them several years ago, I was lucky enough to get a 4 spoke from Mid America. If I didn't have that one I'd be getting one of the above Momos.

Sure, sorry bout that. So after seeing what you've seen, and the wiring stuff emailed to you...what is still unclear at this point? Can you think of any direct questions or do you just want a general walk through?

No problem.
I was wondering if someone could give me resistance readings thru the temp sending unit when the eng is cold and again at say 180*. I'm begining to think that due to the fact that I used Permatex to seal the threads it is giving me faulty readings. Not a good ground. The gauge I have now was working fine before, and it does seem to move alittle now,but at operating temp. will not go above 100*. and this is my second sending unit.
New gauges are on the way.
Thank you,everyone,for all the help!!
p.s. I like the last steering wheel shown!

I think you're right on about the Permatex. It's messing up the ground and fogging up the readings.

I can pull it and clean the threads. Do you think it will seal if I tighten it real good??
Also, who was the vender for your L.E.D.s?

It should seal fine, I never seal the threads on any senders I install, and I've done 20-30 of those that I can recall. None ever leaked for me.

The LEDs I bought are from http://superbrightleds.com/led_prods.htm

They're great, and you can buy almost anything super cheap. Suggestion, write down the numbers of what you need and call it in. Their site is funky. If you back out at any time you lose the contents of the cart, so you can't go between areas. I managed okay but it was confusing and it took a long time. Download the charts to help you figure out which bulbs you need, and what you car has where. Then look up which bulbs you want, and the color, LED count, focus and such, and call the order in.

Thanks for the info on the sending unit.
As far as the L.E.D.s go I'm looking for something to use as under dash lights.

You mean the courtecy lights? They have dome lights too.

I think the style bulb you'll want for those 1156s. Single contact. Get the wide spectrum style.

I like the 3 beam rectangular ALUs in white for illumination onto the floor. When I got my car it had no fixtures under the dash.
Hey ,it looks like now I 'jacked my OWN thread. Pretty easy to do!!!
Thanks again, and if someone could give me the resistance readings on the temp sender I will be all set.

Just a thought, ge get a new one that has never been installed, and get your baseline from it. Then pull the one you have in use, clean it off, and test it. Compare the two and their readings. If the used one has a faulty reading, ditch it in favor of the new one, and if there is no change return the new one for a refund and install the old on with no goop. Just a thought.

OHHHHHH.....MY HEAD HURTS!!!!!!
But here's what I found when I checked 3 different sending units..
#1 Used one from when I bought the car...3000ohms
#2 New one from lectric limited...800ohms
#3 new one from Autometer...2200ohms

The last one is working properly I think. I got a reading of up to 190* then the stat was open and it stayed at 180* after that.(I have a 180* stat)
The autometer Gauges went in very easily and wiring them was a breeze. I suggest that anyone that runs a Painless G.M Universal wiring harness convert to new gauges due to the fact that trying to adapt the old gauges to the new harness was difficult, for me at least. Plus they look great.
I'm going out to the garage to take some pics now...Well after some aspirin and some COFFEE....HONEY WHERE IS THAT BIG MUG I USE FOR SPECIAL OCCASIONS?????

Posting pics of the gauges is appreciated, and maybe the HONEY if you can get her to stand still while you snap her a few times...
