Default Leaking Oil

So My car started leaking oil after my valve cover was removed and put back on. I went and got some new gaskets and put it on the leaky one. Well guess what it still leaks. I found that some tabs on my valve cover were hitting on the head so I ground them down and puto n a new gasket cause the others had dents from the tabs. I took it out and it is still leaking. The valve cover can't be bent because they are cast aluminum. So they'd just break, don't ask how I know... I've never had this problem before and it is becoming a pain in the rear end. It gets on my header wrap and takes forever to burn off leaving tons of smoke all over the place when I come to a stop. What should I do?

what kind of gaskets did you get? I think the Felpro Blue ones are the best and are reuseable. Clean the gasket surfaces real well with carb cleaner so its perfectly dry then apply a thin layer of silicone and torq to spek ( got to look it up)

Ya, I was using Felpro Corks. If I silicone them then won't it be a mess when I need to take it off? Well those are spendy.

Well, I'm about to braze them right to my heads. I'm getting pissed at this peice or garbage. The damn thing is a dog off the line and I still backfires if I floor it below 2000. The trans was leaking. I fixed it and it was good for a few weeks now it is leaking again. It doesn't have anywere close to the horsepower I want. I'm about to do something I'm gonna regret.

Rear end gears plus a torque converter? I know that is my next step. First is the leaky valve cover.

I thought you were going the three to four grand 4 speed rear
gears option. A hughs torque converter is only $180 another
$50/75 for a good trans cooler few hundred for some rear end parts
and your in decent shape. Converting to a 4 speed can get into some money.

Try some FelPro 1604 valve cover gaskets that are 3/8" thick and very forgiving.

richmond gear 63-69 corvette ring gear and pinions
RMG-4900231=3.70
RMG-4900311=3.90
RMG-4900251=4.11

I have no clue how good a product they are and you would want to find out if they will fit your carrier. Summit page 201

Nope. This is from the summit website:
1963-1979 Corvette only. When replacing a 2.41 to 3.70 with a Richmond ring and pinion the carrier must be replaced with a carrier from a stock 4.10 or numerically higher.

So It uses a differernt carrier from what I have. I called up Toms Differentials and he said that I sohuld contact him later in the month cause that is when he is getting the 4.11's in.

I found a set of gears for you that would work with your carrier
awhile back but now I can't remember who they were. Called
the guy at the time and he had one set of 390s left.
