I'm in the final stages of planning the installation of a T56 into my 76. I have one question that I can't seem to get an answer for. The T56 is out of a 98 Camaro and has the electronic speedometer signal. Instead of buying a conversion, I can purchase new gauges for about the same price and it's something I"ve wanted to upgrade so that is my plan. My question is if I purchase an Electronically driven Speedometer from Autometer, what type of speedo cable should I purchase and where could I purchase it from?? Also if anyone has any suggestions, please give them.
I didn't us anything. Mine still doesn't work. I'm going your route as soon as I finish the paint job. It's just a small gauge wire. Maybe 8 or 12. Go to Autometers site and download the directions.
A company called Abbott Controls makes a device called a Cable X, It converts an electronic pulse back to a mechanical drive. A company called Waytek wire may have the Delphi -Packard connectors which are also availalbe from the GM dealer as connector repair kits. You need the connector so that you don't hack up the sealed speed sensor.
