Well, the Condensor does not get "Engaged" The compressor under the hood has a clutch that does tho. Sometimes they are noisy when not engaged, could be dieing, could work forever

Thanks for the correction in terminology and your thoughts. Fortunatley, I dont use the air much. I was concerned that the compressor had a loose part and possibly cause damage.
When I got my '82 the A/C belt was too loose. When the clutch disengaged the belt would strike a small shield on the frame/inner fender, creating what I would describe as a jingling noise. If you run the A/C with the hood open, you should be able to see if this is happening in your case. Tighten the belt and it should take care of the problem.
