Looks like all the work I did this summer has paid off. After putting in a new Dewitts radiator, dual spals, new water pump and new radiator/hood seals, we're runnin' good and cool now.
Drove the car about 400 miles this weekend in 90+ degrees and the temp stayed rock solid at 185, whether driving down the road or sitting still in traffic. Can't ask for much better than that.

Did you get any speeding tickets? That many miles, with 350 horsies at my beck and call...I'd be involved in a high speed pursuit on CNN by the 100th mile...

With the good parts you bought that sucker should run cool.
This weekend also let me figure out that my temp gauge reads about 10 degrees high. It'll run straight up to 190 and just sit there, no matter where I set the fans to come on. Since I'm running a 180 stat, that makes me pretty sure that's about where it's running at. Once I get out on the road, it'll creep up about 5 degrees and then drop right back down when I slow down or stop at a light.

That's pretty amazing. You're one of the lucky few that can operate all day long at 180 degrees. Good job building a cool car...

There is a thread going around now about this. Dont know what year your car is but the best seems to be a gm 343721 with the AX ink stamped on the front. Extremely difficult to locate though, :{ . Plenty of 343721 w/o the stamp around but none with.

We just dont know enough about them to make a determination but rihwoods found one , an AX, laying around a shop and it definitley helped his running hot problem. There is a place in FLA that rebuilds original ones. Why dont you PM me because we've hijacked this thread. What happened to your avatar?
