that would be your heater core and I would put a new one in while you have it down.

Except it's a can't get to it from here kinda job. Sure he can see it--with the evaporator case off, but it's a whole 'nother job to replace it.

maybe the heater was already replaced since it works...i don't know.
anyway i got everything back together. air blows through the vents pretty good, but it depends on if the car is moving or not. also i wish it would blow even more. does anyone have any suggestions?

There is a small electrical mod to do to make sure you get full alternator voltage when on Hi, Use the existing Hi wire to turn on a relay that switches a wire from the alternator.
Make sure your inside/outside air selector door is working, its on the pass side behind the little screen to the tight of the wiper.
Ducts all sealed?

is there some way to block leaves from entering into the fan?? i have to admit that this seems to be a really bad design.

i have that screen you're talking about. i suppose it's just out of shape since it won't close up the whole gap

No thats not right. It sounds as if the diverter vent is stuck, or the vacune line to the diaphram is disconnnected.

well air blows through the system when i'm moving, so i know that it's not blocked all the time. i'll just have to play around with it a little more.

Gator79...lol yeah i do park it inside at my house (all the time), but it's parked outside at school, and the parking lot is covered by huge oak trees...not good...
