Default How long can my engine sit?

I just rebuilt my 350. I installed a new cam, and lubed it up well. I installed new lifters and lubed them as well. My question is how long can I let it sit before cranking it up, and breaking in the new cam? I won't be ready for several months as this is basicaly a weekend project, and the money is slower now than before. This is a 74 frame up, everything is getting attention. Ive never even gotten the privlege of driving it, so Im going about as fast as my pocketbook(WIFE) will allow.

Mine sat assembled over a year before crank up.

I know of rebuilt engines that sat for years before being fired. Regardless of how long it sits be sure to prime the oil system by removing the distributor and spinning the pump with a drill before you start it. Also if it is in a damp environment make sure the lube that you put on does not drain off and expose bare metal or the cylinder walls could rust.

I agree with the above that you can let them sit for a long while. The only concern I'd have is the cylinder walls. If you've not already installed the heads, then I'd also apply some assembly lube to them.

If your worried about the cylinders you can pick up fogging solution at a boat shop.Just pull the plugs and shoot it in.
