Default Intake for ZZ4

I was considering changing my ZZ4 intake. Have been reading several different forums, and I guess I am looking for input from you guys. Is there a intake that would maximize my ZZ4 with LT4 cam, 1.6 rockers and Demon 650? I was looking into either the Edlebrock or Weiand manifolds, but dont have a lot of experieince with manifold selection.
My 79 is a 4 speed and basically just a street car.
Thanks in advance.

I'm using Dart's (no longer available) Air-Gap clone in my '79 stroker.

What's wrong with the ZZ4 manifold? I have that basic combo and am running 12.8's in the 1/4 mile. Are you having performance problems?

Nothing wrong, just looking into any changes that can be made that will get me a little more performance. At some point would like to go to FASTBURN heads, but for now was looking into any other changes that may be an improvement.

An Air Gap, or Cool Can would work well, however before changing intakes make sure to check what you have for hood clearance.

With the setup I have now, ZZ4 manifold, Demon 650, 1 inch carb sapcer, and K&N 3" air filter, I dont think hood clearance will be an issue. Are the aftermarket manifolds that much taller?
BTW, when I put the 1 " spacer in, the carb seemed to come alive.

Each manifold will vary in the height, but if you check with the manufacture they'll have dimensions for you so you can compare to what you have now.

Cool. Will do. Does the edlebrock air gap or Weiand type manifolds flow that much better? I have seen "advertisements" of anywhere from 10 - 20 HP over a stock manifold. Everyone seems to lean towards the "AIR GAP", but I did read on another frorum from a Weiand Tech that theirs offer more improvements over the edlebrock. As I said, I appreciate your help here, you must see all kind of inquires AT BG. PS...my Demon is awesome!

The "Air Gap" style intakes will act more like an open plenum intake, and give you more top end Power, but can sacrifice some bottom end drivability.

Glad you like your Demon!
