Default buggered threads

I have nicked the last 2 threads on one of my rear spindles, anyone know what size die and where I can find one? I think the size is 19M x 1.25, but all the precision places only list 18 and 20M dies. Goes on an 81. HELP! Thanks.

You might be able to rent the die from a machine shop. The guy who pressed my T/As apart had one and used it to clean up my threads.

Good advice so far ... 'specially the thread file. I can't swear because I haven't measured every thread on a C3 ... but aside from the spark plugs & their holes in heads, I doubt you'll find too many metric threads on C3.

Another way in a pinch is to -cut a nut in half-wrap nut around threads below damaged threads and clamp with vicegrips-now unscrew over bad threads-do it several times.Cheap split die.

My 81 has several metric bolts on it, very confusing

3/4 -20 is correct. If the spindle is out then try a carefully dress it with a file until you can screw an old nut on it. Then use some AAA cloverleaf lapping compound and work the nut on to clean up the threads. Fit a new nut when you're done and throw out the old one.
You can buy a die from McMaster-carr too if you want.

What is that? Where can you get it and what all is it good for?
