What are you ZZ4 owners using for headers? Would like to get ceramic coated. Wasn't sure about D port exh. matching up. Going to run full exhaust. I've got 4spd and p.s. and thats it! Pics would be great, but any feed back would help alot. Thanks.
Ordinary 1 5/8 Hedman full length will work fine (Part # 62860 ?), though if I were to upgrade, I would into the Dynomax coated headers, such as those at Jeg's. I believe both offer them with d-shape ports, which would probably be better. If you're on a budget, C-4 tubular manifolds work ok as well. I'm currently running the Hedman's with Thermo-Tec wrap, as it's not show, just go....
L82- jws, when you ordered headers, did you order by application(1972 vette 4spd,ect) or did you order to fit "D" port exh on zz4 heads? Or both? Also, how did they fit/go on easy?
When I ordered my headers, I ordered the D port models. The fit and install went very smooth. No issues or fit problems. Had to remove and re-install clutch Z bar, but other than that, they have clearance on the starter, etc. Also, install from underneath.
L82-jws, did you get gaskets and mounting hardware w/headers?
No. I got my own gaskets, and I used Stainless Steel Header bolts from local supplier.
The headers had gaskets in the box, but I opted for a better gasket.
Local speed shop may help with recommendation.
Headers installed very smooth. Just make sure you install from underneath, makes the job a whole lot easiser. I am very pleased with the JET HOT coating. In fact, I got a discount from them stating I was a forum member.
Everyday headers fit the D-ports just fine Ive been told the act as anti reversion
Not to hijack this thread... does this mean that the Dynomax headers I have will fit a d-port cylinder head as is? I have a friend selling some Phase 6 heads and they have d-ports while I have the standard port headers.
