Need a little advice here guys. I have been having major issues with the Holley that I am currently running on my car and am thinking of swapping to an Edelbrock.
Here is my current setup:
76 L48 with auto
No A/C
Holley Dual Plain, high rise intake
Accel Dist, coil and wires
MSD 6A ignition
Long tube headers
Stock heads
Stock cam?
It would be far cheaper to overhaul the Holley, as long as it doesn't have major damage. If you already put gaskets in it and sprayed it down with carb cleaner, I can tell you that spray cans are usually insufficient for cleaning carbs.
What advice were you looking for? You're just trading one 600 cfm carb for another. No difference in performance -as long as you compare one properly functioning carb to another.
I bought the holley new. I have had issues with it since the day I got it. The place that I bought it from is offering to do an even swap beacuase I am a good customer. I am just looking for something more dependable. The holley has to be tuned every day it seems like and any temperature change at all effects it.
I tried an Edelbrock a few years ago to replace a tired Q-jet. Thought it would be a good way to get out of rebuilding a carb. Very disappointing. Rochester is the only way to go. God bless, Sensei
