I personally like the looks of a c3 when they sit level, but, I know from personal experience that the front end on my car would start to wander at around 130 mph. Of course, I don't do that any more.
I was at 135 mph when I felt the front get "real light" in the steering.... Slowed down realllllllly fast....Never going to do that again!
Or install a really big front spoiler. You could tease the 150 mark before getting into trouble.
With the 4:11 gear in the back...I would be throwing rods before I saw that number....
I have an 05 Pontiac that I've seen 135 in. Then I decided I want to keep my license and let off....
The 69 I think I'll keep under 100. There is something about going that fast in a 37 year old car that is not all that appealing to me. Besides, IF something happened in the Pontiac...I MIGHT live. If something happened in the Vette...I would just bend down and kiss my a** goodbye...
I had read in one of my books that the addition of the pace car spoiler increased the economy of the car by 1MPG. That doesn't sound like much, but from 15 to 16 MPG is about a 6.6% increase. Not too bad.
The primary reason for the increase was the shielding of the front tires from the airflow.
My Vette has a very small front spoiler, but it allows a LOT of air into the front of the car. I'm tempted to pull it off, and glass another few inches onto it to improve the daming affect on the under-car air flow.
