I have a 72 vette with a steering box that leaks! My mechanic will be rebuilding the box but needs an outlet to buy the steering box sector shaft seal. Where can I locate this seal? Thanks!
I have the whole rebuild kits if you need one, but first I'd look over this post to get an idea on how they can be build better then stock
If you need any help, let me know.
Good luck
Gary

Thanks! My mechanic says he needs the sector shaft seal only. Not being a mechanic I'm not sure what I should have! Is there any chance you could pm me with your phone number so I could have my mechanic call you ? Perhaps after you talk with him he may want more than the seal! Thanks again! Scott Mahan

PM sent, if you only want the seal then you probably can find it at a bearing house. If it were me, knowing how these are built stock, I would set it up now the best it can be set. If your guy doesn't use a dial torque wrench he won't get it dialed in for maximum useage-or worse it can be over adjusted and wear out the gears.
I'll be glad to explain the procedure, he'll need a lathe to do it right too.
