Default Sweet Thunder Sidepipe Drivers, Step on in....

Just a few quick questions...

1. OK, How loud are they compared to factory sidepipes (the '69 type)?

2. Does the larger size give any noticeable performance difference over the factory type?

3. Can you still hear your wife..... ?

Thanks...

1) no clue.... never heard the '69 style in person.

2) I had 2 1/4" inserts and the performance was fine. I'd assume that the 2" inserts are quieter but restrictive and the 2.5" inserts are louder and less restrictive....

3) The 2 1/4 " inserts were ok, I didn't have to worry about every cop pulling me over..... sidepipes are always loud because you dump the exhaust next to your ear.

For a 350SB I recommend these, for a 383 or bigger engine you'll need 2.5" mufflers or baffles

I replaced my factory sidepipes with the 2.5" sweet thunder sidepipes.
No real difference in sound but that could be due to the big holes that were rusted through my factory pipes.

2. Does the larger size give any noticeable performance difference over the factory type? Not enough to write home about.

Absolutly not. Can't hear her, the radio, nor anything else.
And don't even think about using a drive-thru.

I will tell you that the sweet thunder pipes looked EXACTLY like my factory pipes and fit perfectly. Showed up on my doorstep just a few days after ordering them. If you spring for the factory covers it deadens the sound enough that you can just hear the factory radio turned all the way up. And the factory covers run very cool. No matter how long I run/idle the big block I can still lay my bare hand on the covers. Nice!

Thanks...
