New hood prep questions...

New hood prep questions...
Okay, the new hood will be here in two or three weeks. I want to make sure I have everything I need to install it, paint it, and instal it again shorty after it's arrival.
First is hardware. I have plans for a new hinge system and hyd. support systems. I kept the old latching hardware off the old hood and plan to re-use that stuff. The hood insulation blanket was pretty much garbage so I didn't keep it.
When I have the new hood, will I need to install a new blanket on that L88 hood, or should I leave it be? I know they are there to protect the paint from the engine heat, but with that large bulge will it be needed? Also, could I fabricate my own of some kind that's a little more stylish than those found in catalogs?
