As I posted a couple of days ago, that I had too much neg camber in rear of an 81 and
when I had it align the shop said it would open up a can of worms to adjust the back axle. I just jacked it up at noon today and took me 15 minutes to adjust both tires. What a crook of sh---- that mechanic
was given me. Said the bushings would be all froze and could cost
as much a 3000.00 to replace everything. I move everything with
a 3/4 open & box wrench with no lube on the bolts. These shops only
want to sell parts a charge 85.00 per hour.
My 68 has one degree each side of negative camber, supposed to help with cornering. It's very noticable when standing behind the car, and I've seen a lot of other C3's this way also.
Try to locate a shop in your area that does Corvette's, even if you have to drive a ways, it could be worth it for an expert opinion.
Thanks, I temp. check the wheels after a drive and left is one degree
neg. the right is about 1 1/2 degree neg. Did not do a good test only
a straightedge on wheels and a cheep degree finder. The shop manual says
on an 81, .00 plus or minus .05 . You are right, I see a lot of corvette with neg camber and it is very noticeable. Jay
